The story begins with Edwin traveling to Thailand to reconnect with a Thai friend whom he'd met in Viet-Nam. Adventures unravel in Thailand, and though he cannot seem to locate his friend, he does meet and fall in love with his future wife. After returning to the states from Viet-Nam, Edwin completed college, then worked on construction sites around the mid-west until he was offered his first overseas job. In 1976, he went to work in Khamis, Saudi Arabia. In 1978, he worked in Ras Tanura then was transferred to Panama. He went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1979 then back to Ras Tanura from 1980 to 1985. From 1986 to 1989, he was sent to Somalia then to Kwajalian in the Marshall Islands to work on the Star Wars projects. Then he traveled back to Ras Tanura in 1990 for the 1991 Gulf War where he worked on the Oil Spill Response Team. He continued working in Saudi Arabia with Saudi Aramco until retirement.
Edwin and his wife have traveled to over 100 countries, studying the people and culture of the places they visited. They have collected information and articles and have amassed a large cookbook collection making their home much like a cultural museum. They have spent time volunteering with orphanages and other helpful private organizations around the world. He is a mini-Ambassador not being related to any government organization. Edwin has won a Kodak Sports A-Field Photo Contest.
