Edwin completed college, then worked on construction sites around the mid-west until he was offered his first overseas job.
While working in Phoenix he was about to be drafted when he joined the Seabee's. He was sent to Viet Nam in 1968 and stationed at a base camp beside the 101 Airborne camp just south of Hue. Then he was sent to the Iron Triangle and worked on PBR bases around Saigon. After returning from Vietnam he completed college and worked on construction projects in USA. In 1976 he returned to construction projects overseas. He has spent almost 30 years traveling studying, and working overseas. He has been around the world many times and is an unofficial ambassador with no government ties. His meeting Dow and the problems they had to overcome with the airlines and governments is well highlighted in the book. It is a true international love story but much more it has history, mystery, travel, and a outsiders looks into the international scene.
